DIABETES

Advanced glycation end products (AGES) are harmful compounds, typically from food, or formed when protein or fat combine with sugar in the blood. HbA1C is an AGE.

Modern diets are highly linked to AGEs building up in the body. BBQ, frying, roasting, & baking raise AGEs (often to dangerous levels) (1)

High levels of AGES cause inflammation and the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) (2), leading to oxidative stress, and many diseases. AGES can adversely affect the body’s cells, promoting oxidative stress and inflammation (3,4,5).

Sustained oxidative stress (ROS production) and inflammation promote acceleration of atherosclerosis by diabetes (5).

Sulforaphane has been shown to significantly suppress oxidative stress generation in Diabetes, as well as suppressing vascular adhesion. Recent research shows that Sulforaphane also inhibits inflammation in vascular cells, protecting against vascular injury (6).

In animal studies and clinical case studies, SFN has been shown to reduce diabetic neuropathy (7).

In human clinical trials, SFN has been shown to reduce HS-CRP by 20% (8), and significantly reduce with IL-6. In randomised controlled human clinical trial, broccoli sprout capsules were shown to be well tolerated and improved fasting glucose in obese patients with dysregulated T2D (9).
